GrpMindr’s main goal is to make group finances easier to manage. We use an algorithm we developed to take a group of debts and simplify them to the lowest possible amount. We built this application out of an effort to make our own financial spending easier to manage, and we have decided to release it to the public in order for them to benefit from it as well. We have also added localization support which will allow users to have Google Analyticator in their language of choice. For more information, please visit the Spiral Web Consulting Plugins Support Forum.

We have also changed the authentication method for users who will be using our widgets. We are now using the AuthSub method, which allows us to access the Google Analytics API without ever handling any of your user information. This will quell some of the complainants that we were asking for too much information, and it will also remove the need for the user to enter their UID to begin tracking. It is important to note that if you are currently using the widget, when you upgrade to Google Analyticator 5.0 you must reauthenticate with Google using this new method.

Some other changes include:

• Updates the Google Analytics API class to use the WordPress HTTP API, thus removing cURL as a core requirement for the widget.
• Updates the UID setting help to remove old urchin.js references and provide additional help for finding a UID.

Google Analyticator 4.3 Enchancements

With the newest version of Google Analyticator, we bring you a bunch of cool things. With Google Analytics recently providing Event Tracking for all accounts, we have added that functionality to the plugin. You can now track downloads and external links without effecting your page views. This information will also be broken up by Google Analytics much differently than before, drastically improving the user experience while trying to sift through the Google Analytics data. Some other enhancements include:

• Adds support for the WordPress 2.8 widget API.
• Improves error reporting with API authentication.
• Prevents files that are stored on external servers from being tracked as both a download and an external link.
• Includes a minified version of the outbound/download tracking javascript instead of the full code.
• Changes SimplePie include to use WordPress’ version if possible, since SimplePie is included in WordPress 2.8.
• Adds version number to the Google Analyticator comment.

We have also fixed a few bugs that arose:

• Corrects a file extension case sensitivity issue that prevented certain download links from being tracked.
• Fixes a bug in IE8 that would not allow the widget to display in the admin properly.
• Fixes an issue where stable versions of WordPress 2.8 were not using the new widget API.
• Removes Google Analyticator comment in the header that if footer tracking is enabled.
• Fixes a text size inconstancy on the settings page.

Podcasting 2.1.2 Enhancements

Podcasting has not had as much success as Google Analyticator in terms of progress. In Podcasting’s defense however, it is a much more complex plugin that requires much more time to ensure it is working properly. We still have several large updates in store for Podcasting, so even if you do not see the enhancement you have been hoping for, it may still be in the works.

Enhancements for Podcasting include:

• Adds error messages to the admin AJAX calls.
• Adds comment with version number to header output.

We completely redesigned the blog using the 960 grid system to fix some issues in Internet Explorer 6 (if you are using Internet Explorer 6, we highly encourage you to upgrade to the newly released Internet Explorer 8). The changes may not be visual, but the CSS has been redone to ensure that everyone has the same viewing experience while using the blog. With this new fix, all of our sites are currently working perfectly in Internet Explorer 6/7/8, Safari 3/4, Firefox 2/3, Opera 9, and Google Chrome.

The Spiral Web Consulting home page was redesigned to use a better theme idea we had while creating the Plugins site. We converted the two by two box idea we originally had into four elongated boxes. We also updated the graphics and text describing each section.

Some general updates include content being updated on our Services page to include some new abilities Ron and I have learned while working together. We also updated our Portfolio page to display our newest achievement, working with the Google Analytics API. The Contact Us page has also been updated to help our clients give us a better understanding of what they are looking for, while eliminating some of the information that was not prevalently needed. The final change is that all Webkit browsers (Safari, Chrome, and modern mobile browsers) and Firefox will now have added rounded corners to all of boxes on our site.

We feel all of these changes have made a vast improvement across our sites. It is a change in the right direction and we believe our content is now laid out in a much better format. We hope all of our clients like the changes!

As stated in Nick Mihailovski’s new blog post, Share Your Google Analytics Data With Everyone, Google Analyticator allows users to display their stat information to the public. This idea will be expanded upon in the future to provide more information to the public, such as popular posts. We would also like to announce that the Google Analytics team has showcased Google Analyticator in the Featured Examples section of the Google Analytics API documentation.
